MOON GLOW 2019 Tasting Notes (by the distillery):

Aroma: Old coniferous tree such as Japanese cedar or cypress, orange, vanilla, a hint of peat, dried malt, unique grain, oil, biscuit, and fresh apple.
Flavour: Little light, spicy and Japanese-cypress-like flavour with a hint of oil. Old Japanese cypress for the aftertaste.

A rich grain finished in a red wine barrel and a sherry cask brings out a subtle sweetness exquisitely, leading to a gentle and smooth after finish. The multi-layered taste and complex achieved only by long years in continue in harmony and just over 10 years aged.

This is the fifth entry in the Moon Glow series, partially featuring Japanese whisky distilled in 1960.

However 1960 whisky is again a bit controversial as without strict Japanese whisky making standards it could be only a couple ml per bottle, and the distillery has acknowledged it’s blended with a variety of imported whiskies (undisclosed source) that are at least 10 years old, and aged for an undisclosed length of time in Sherry PX (Pedro Ximenez) barrels hence the subtle sweetness.
