Komaki Brewery releases a new Cherry Blossom shochu to welcome the awaited Spring season will be released limited to Tsukada Nojo’s restaurants and some shops in Kyushu.

This shochu, which is as soft and fragrant as cherry blossoms has been named “KOMAKI meets Cherry Blossoms Sakura Komaki” and expresses its flavour indeed and will be best served Soda-wari.

Tsukada Nojo, with over 100 outlets across Japan, is a traditional-style izakaya specializing in Miyazaki Prefecture (Kyushu Island) dishes. One of the important philosophies of Tsukada Nojo is a “Direct Logistics of Fresh Foods from Farmers in Miyazaki”. Being Chicken the most iconic ingredient from Miyazaki, but featuring local vegetables others are delivered to each outlet every day directly from the farmers. This chain is also well-known to feature and promote Kyushu drinks only.

Komaki Shochu Distillery is located in Satsuma Town (in the area that was Miyanojo Town) northern district of Kagoshima Prefecture. Right next to the distillery flows the Kawauchi river and to the north of the distillery stands the sacred Shibi mountains, from which we source the water for brewing their shochu.

We have aimed to improve the shochu process and technology to pursue a unique and new taste of shochu. Coming across a new kind of purple sweet potato called “Ayamurasaki” we decided it was best to be used in this original shochu. Furthermore, this original shochu uses the same koji mold as “Ichisho Bronze“, which is the best fit for Soda-wari in our brewery.
